Accessing the "conference" network
We provide special network with SSID "conference" dedicated for participants
of various conferences, seminars and other events held in the Faculty of
Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics, TUG.
- NOTE: WiFi network configuration is easier if you install this CA certificate in your
system.
- If you operate a MS Windows system, the certificate should be installed
in the "Trusted Root Certification Authorities".
- If you do not want to install the certificate or you cannot do it
(administrator rights to YOUR machine are required), then you should
configure connection manually BEFORE connecting the first time following the
instructions below.
NOTICE: A login and a password required to access the network,
should be provided by the confernce staff.
Windows 7
- Open "Network and Sharing Center";
- Choose "Manage wireless networks";
- In the new window click "Add", and next
"Manually create a network profile";
- Enter:
- Network name: conference
- Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
- Encryption type: AES
click "Continue";
- Choose "Change connection settings", click
the "Security" tab, check
whether the network authentication method "Microsoft:
Protocol EAP (PEAP)" is choosen, and then click "Settings";
- Leave the box "Validate server certificate"
unchecked (empty) !!!
- Choose "Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)" as
an authentication method;
- Click "Configure" and, in a new window,
uncheck (leave empty) the "Automatically use my Windows
logon name and password ... " box;
- Click "OK" twice;
- Click "Advanced settings";
- In the "802.1X settings" tab mark the "Specify authentication mode" option and choose "User authentication";
- Then click "Save ..." and enter
the username and password provided by the conference staff;
- Click "OK" three times;
- If you are in the "conference" network coverage, you may try to
"connect" to this network now.
Username and password to the "conference" network will be provided by your conference
staff.
Windows Vista
- Open "Network and Sharing Center";
- Choose "Manage wireless networks";
- In the new window click "Add", and next
"Manually create a network profile";
- Enter:
- Network name: conference
- Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
- Encryption type: AES
click "Continue";
- Choose "Change connection settings", click
the "Security" tab, check
whether the network authentication method "Microsoft: Protocol EAP
(PEAP)" is choosen, and then click "Settings";
- Leave the box "Validate server certificate" unchecked (empty) !!!
- Choose "Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)" as an authentication method;
- Click "Configure" and, in a new window, uncheck (leave empty) the
"Automatically use my Windows logon name and password ...
" box;
- Click "OK" three times;
- If you are in the "conference" network coverage, you may choose
"Connect" now;
- At the bottom of the screen you shold see a ballon with "... ", click it;
*** NOTE: if you ignore this message, then to be able to enter
password again you should in the "conference" network "Properties", in the
"Security" tab uncheck (leave empty) the " ... " box (after connecting you can check it again) ***
- Use the logon and password provided by your conference staff, leaving
the "Logon domain" field empty.
Username and password to the "conference" network will be provided by your conference
staff.
Android
Switch Wi-Fi on, and choose "Wi-Fi settings".
Among other network nam es you shoud see the "conference" SSID. Choose it
and enter (NOTE: you may need to enter the password to the credential storage
in YOUR phone, or set a new one if you did not set any, yet):
- EAP method: PEAP
- Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
- Identity: (login to the "conference" network provided by conference staff)
- Anonymous identity: (leave empty)
- Wireless password (the password provided by conference staff)
And choose "Connect".
Username and password to the "conference" network will be provided by your conference
staff.
